I. DESCRIPCIÓN
En este curso se introducirá a los estudiantes a la etnografía a partir del conocimiento, análisis crítico, ejercicios y uso de textos etnográficos. Este curso permitirá al estudiante comprender el tipo de conocimiento que genera la etnografía, y entender cómo ésta posibilita el desarrollo de nuestro propio pensamiento e imaginación antropológica.
Para ello el estudiante se familiarizará críticamente, por una parte, con trabajos emblemáticos en la disciplina; monografías, artículos y materiales visuales, explorando su relevancia para la generación de nuevos desarrollos teóricos y prácticos en antropología, no exentos de controversias. Por otra parte, el estudiante se familiarizará en forma directa con el pensamiento etnográfico a través de ejercicios prácticos. La metodología del curso se basa en la combinación de clases lectivas, ejercicios etnográficos, elaboración de informes escritos, exposición de monografías en grupos y la redacción de un ensayo breve.
II. OBJETIVOS
Objetivo general
Conocer la aproximación etnográfica de investigación en antropología a partir del análisis y uso de textos etnográficos y por medio de ejercicios prácticos de investigación. 
 
Objetivos Específicos 
1. Conocer la aproximación etnográfica de investigación, abordando sus fundamentos y requisitos, así como los principales debates y problemáticas.
2. Ejercitar la comprensión y análisis de textos etnográficos clásicos y contemporáneos claves de la disciplina –de distintas corrientes teóricas y de diversos contextos regionales–, para así revelar su carácter de herramientas fundamentales para el desempeño del antropólogo.
3. Formar el pensamiento etnográfico por medio del estudio de monografías y de ejercicios prácticos de investigación.
