Teórico 9: COHERENCIA Y COHESIÓN EN EL DISCURSO ACADÉMICO Y CIENTÍFICO EN INGLÉS. MARCADORES DISCURSIVOS, CONECTORES, ENUMERADORES, ARTICULADORES. Categorías semánticas frecuentes ❑ Enumeración (first, firstly, second, secondly, lastly, finally) ❑ Adición (moreover, further(more), in addition, what is more, besides, similarly) ❑ Resumen/Recapitulación (in sum, to conclude, to summarize, in conclusion) ❑ Reformulación/Ejemplificación (i.e, for example, for instance, in other words, that is to say, namely) ❑ Resultado/Consecuencia (thus, consequently, therefore, in consequence, hence, as a result) ❑ Razón/Causa (because, due to, as, since, given that) ❑Oposición/Contraste adversativo (in contrast, rather, alternatively, conversely, on the contrary, instead, but, yet, however, while) ❑Concesión (however, yet, although, though, even though, but, despite, in spite of) Enumeradores: operadores fijos y frases articuladoras ENUMERADORES ESTANDARIZADOS ❑ First, Firstly, To begin with, ❑ Second, Secondly, ❑ Third, Thirdly, ❑ Fourth, Fourthly, ❑ … ❑ Last, Lastly, Last of all, Last but not least FORMAS ESTANDARIZADAS PARA INTRODUCIR CADA ELEMENTO EN UNA ENUMERACIÓN ARTICULADORES - ENUMERADORES ❑ To begin/To start our analysis,… ❑ The next element to consider, … ❑ The following aspect… ❑ Number four in our list… ❑ To conclude/To round off our enumeration… As well as, like, similar to DISCURSIVAMENTE, RECONOCER LOS OPERADORES DEL PRIMER GRUPO –LOS ORACIONALES O MARCADORES– RESULTA MÁS PRODUCTIVO UN EJEMPLO: (…)the EFLM and the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) documents, both advise that labelling must occur in the presence of the patient. Further to this, there is an acknowledgement of the importance of monitoring errors. In sum, To conclude, To summarize, To sum up, In short, In conclusion, Overall, Finally SUELEN PRESENTARSE AL INICIO DE UN PÁRRAFO SÍNTESIS. RESULTA ESTRATÉGICO RECONOCERLOS YA QUE ESTABLECEN JERARQUÍA SEMÁNTICA. UN EJEMPLO: Finally, the survey responses also confirm that there is substantial interest in the area of preanalytical error monitoring in Irish laboratories, … That is, That is to say, i.e, In other words, Namely, Simply put, For example, For instance ES MUY PRODUCTIVO RECONOCERLOS: la reiteración o redundancia suele aclarar, ampliar, especificar, ejemplificar lo antedicho y así subsanar dificultades de comprensión. UN EJEMPLO[1]: The survey exhibited a significant opportunity for improvement in the area of training. In other words, education of our clinical colleagues will undoubtedly have a role to play in reducing errors… Thus, Consequently, Therefore, In consequence, Hence, As a result UN EJEMPLO: Hence, the present study was planned with the objective of comparing efficacy, safety, and tolerability of transdermal patches of diclofenac sodium with oral diclofenac sustained release (SR) in patients of chronic MSK pain conditions. Because, Due to, As, Since, Given (that) CAUSE: the results of the study CONSEQUENCE: economic gains Compare: It is realistic to assume that there are largeeconomic gains to be made by improving LOS, given the results of this study. Compare: The results of this study (are promising); therefore, it is realistic to assume that there are large economic gains to be made by improving LOS. UN EJEMPLO: Given the results of this study, it is realistic to assume that there are large economic gains to be made by improving LOS (patients’ length of stay). ADVERSATIVOS (in contrast, rather, alternatively, conversely, on the contrary, instead, but, yet, however, while) CONCESIVOS (however, yet, although, though, even though, but, despite, in spite of) Conectores de contraste: adversativo y concesivo In some system configurations, each sample is given a unique barcode, whereas in other configurations, all samples associated with a request are given individual or duplicate barcodes. (Leonard et. al., 2020) The requirement to comply with the BS EN ISO 15189:2012 standard has undoubtedly contributed to significant improvements in the analytical phase in the last 10 years. However, the same rigorous methodologies have not yet been applied to the pre or post analytical phases. (Leonard et. al., 2020) ¿EN QUÉ SECCIÓN ENCONTRARÍAMOS ESTOS EJEMPLOS? COORDINACIÓN Y SUBORDINACIÓN The relatively low proportion of errors in the analytical phase most likely reflects improvements in analytical quality resulting from standard operating procedures, quality assurance and methodological developments, including increased automation. In contrast, the extra-analytical phases are rarely subject to routine assessments… (Cornes et al., 2016) [Although laboratories employ processes to identify and mitigate errors in real time,] [the recording of these errors may sometimes be haphazard, and there is a lack of standardization in how and what is recorded.] ALGUNOS EJEMPLOS: ❖ We will present the results in the following section… ❖ The following section will depict… ❖ I will divide my analysis into four main arguments… ❖ To clarify matters, this example… REFERENCIAS BIBLIOGRÁFICAS Biber, D., Johansson, S., Leech, G., Conrad, S. & Finegan, E.
