Nomenclatura 
El "100" en la designación del tipo de medio se refiere a la velocidad de transmisión 
de 100 (Mb, Gb), mientras que el "BASE" se refiere a la señalización de banda base. 
La letra que sigue al guion ("T" o "F") se refiere al medio físico que transporta la 
señal (par trenzado o fibra, respectivamente), mientras que el último carácter ("X", 
"4", etc.) se refiere a el método de código de línea utilizado.
