Venezuela Political system (Outdated image, currently there are 277 deputies in the National Assembly) NATIONAL PARLIAMENT: The National Assembly is unicameral and consists of 277 deputies elected in each federal entity through universal, direct, personalized, and secret voting. Purpose of the National Assembly: - Represent the voters of the federal entities that elect them, as well as the di�erent sectors of national life. - Legislate to create laws that the country truly requires and needs. - Oversee the performance of the national government. CONSTITUENT NATIONAL ASSEMBLY: The ANC is a body of representatives elected by citizens to draft a new Constitution and define its political organization. The ANC has full powers or constituent power to which all public institutions must submit. However, it is important to note that the creation of the ANC can sometimes generate discussions, as some people may disagree with the way it is established or with its decisions. TERMDURATION: ➔ The presidential term is six (6) years and can be re-elected. ➔ Deputies to the National Assembly serve for five (5) years and can be re-elected. ➔ Mayors and councilors are elected for a period of four (4) years and can be re-elected. ALLOCATION OF POWERS: Executive Power: Headed by the President of the Republic andministers. Legislative Power: Represented by the National Assembly, which is the unicameral legislative body. Judicial Power: Represented by the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ). This tribunal is responsible for interpreting the Constitution and ensuring legality in the country. Citizen Power: ➔ Attorney General's O�ce: Responsible for investigating and prosecuting crimes, especially those related to corruption. ➔ People's Defender: Ensures the protection and guarantee of human rights of citizens, as well as the respect for the Constitution. ➔ Comptroller General's O�ce: Responsible for auditing and controlling the use of public resources, preventing corruption in administration. How are deputies to the National Assembly allocated to each state Each state has the right to elect a number of deputies depending on its population. In other words, each state is entitled to a certain number of deputies associated with its total population. Each state is allocated at least 3 deputies, plus additional deputies based on the population index. Finalidad de la Asamblea Nacional: - Representar a los electores de las entidades federales que los eligen, como a los diferentes sectores de la vida nacional - Legislar para hacer las leyes que realmente requiere y necesita el país. - Controlar la actuación del gobierno nacional ASAMBLEA NACIONAL CONSTITUYENTE: La ANC es un organismo de representantes elegidos por los ciudadanos para redactar una nueva Constitución y definir su organización política. La ANC tiene plenos poderes o poder constituyente al que deben someterse todas las instituciones públicas. Pero tengamos en cuenta que a veces la creación de la ANC puede generar discusiones, ya que algunas personas pueden no estar de acuerdo con la forma en que se establece o con sus decisiones. DURACIÓN DEMANDATOS; ➔ El período presidencial es de seis (6) años y podrá ser reelegido. ➔ Los diputados a la Asamblea Nacional duran cinco (5) años en el ejercicio de sus funciones, pudiendo ser reelegidos. ➔ El Alcalde y concejales son elegidos por un período de cuatro (4) años y pueden ser reelegidos. DESIGNACIÓN DE PODERES: Poder Ejecutivo: Encabezado por el Presidente de la República y ministros. Poder Legislativo: Representado por la Asamblea Nacional, que es el órgano legislativo unicameral. Poder Judicial: Representado por el Tribunal Supremo de Justicia (TSJ). Este tribunal es responsable de interpretar la Constitución y garantizar la legalidad en el país. Poder Ciudadano: ➔ Fiscalía General de la República: Encargada de investigar y perseguir los delitos, especialmente aquellos relacionados con la corrupción. ➔ Defensoría del Pueblo: Tiene la función de proteger y garantizar los derechos humanos de los ciudadanos, así como velar por el respeto a la Constitución. ➔ Contraloría General de la República: Responsable de fiscalizar y controlar el uso de los recursos públicos, previniendo la corrupción en la administración. ¿Cómo se le asignan los diputados de la Asamblea Nacional a cada Estado? Cada estado tiene el derecho a elegir un número de diputados que dependerá de la cantidad de habitantes que tenga esa entidad federal. En otras palabras, cada estado o entidad federal tiene derecho a un número de diputados, que estará asociado al total de su población. A cada estado le corresponden al menos 3 diputados, más un número de diputados de acuerdo al índice poblacional.
