Abstract—This The research presented primary objective was to
update the curriculum of the National Police Training 
Programme (NFP) of the National Experimental Security 
University (UNES), in the light of the needs of police training in 
care people with hearing disabilities, in terms of communication 
between them. The investigation stemmed firstly, the total lack of 
curricular units in the curriculum of the University related to 
communication in Venezuelan Sign Language (LSV) and second, 
on information provided by students about the need for 
specialized training in the area. To achieve the objectives the 
research is based on the positivist paradigm, with a quantitative 
approach and a non-experimental design, a descriptive level and 
in the form of a field study. With the contributions provided by 
this study, it is suggested the inclusion of curriculum unit called 
"Venezuelan Sign Language Basic Level, for police officers" in 
order to update and strengthen the PNF, and that officials can 
fulfill their duties efficiently benefit of the community they serve, 
improve performance as responsible for providing protection, 
care and security to the entire population and its impact on the 
positive image to the public, increasing the efficiency and quality 
of service and warranty rights for people with disabilities and 
attention to diversity, established in Venezuelan law.

Resumen - La investigación que se presenta tuvo como objetivo 
primordial, actualizar el plan de estudios del Programa Nacional 
de Formación (PNF) Policial de la Universidad Nacional 
Experimental de la Seguridad (UNES), a la luz de las necesidades 
de formación del personal policial en atención a las personas con 
discapacidad auditiva, en términos de comunicación entre ambos. 
La investigación tuvo su origen primero, en la carencia total de 
unidades curriculares en el plan de estudios de la Universidad, 
relacionadas con la comunicación en Lengua de Señas 
Venezolana (LSV) y segundo, en la información suministrada por 
los estudiantes respecto a la necesidad de formación especializada 
en el área. Para el logro de los objetivos la investigación se 
sustentó en el paradigma positivista, con un enfoque cuantitativo 
y un diseño no experimental, a nivel descriptivo y bajo la 
modalidad de un estudio de campo. Con los aportes 
suministrados por este estudio, se sugiere la inclusión de la 
unidad curricular denominada "Lengua de Señas Venezolana 
Nivel Básico, para funcionarios policiales", con el objeto de 
actualizar y fortalecer el PNF, y que los oficiales puedan cumplir 
con eficiencia sus funciones en beneficio de la comunidad a la que 
sirven, mejoren el desempeño como responsables de brindar 
protección, atención y seguridad a toda la población y su 
repercusión en la imagen positiva ante la ciudadanía, aumento de 
la eficacia y calidad de servicio, así como la garantía de los 
derechos para las personas con discapacidad y atención a la 
diversidad, establecida en la legislación venezolana.
