Abstract 
The purpose of this research is to describe and to compare different Active 
Learning Strategies in a topic in Engineering of the Environment. The latter 
is studied in the second semester of the first course of the Degrees in Me-
chanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Industrial and Automatic 
Electronics Engineering, in the Top Technical School of Industrial Engineer-
ing of the University of La Rioja. 
The present paper analyses the academic results obtained in the subject of 
Environmental Engineering, and the results of a survey applied to students. 
The purpose to the survey was to obtain information about the methodology 
followed in the research. The results obtained allow one to conclude that 
knowledge assimilation is much greater in a class of active learning, in 
which the students are the protagonists of their learning.

Resumen 
El objetivo de este trabajo es describir y comparar distintas estrategias de 
aprendizaje activo en un tema sobre contaminación atmosférica de la asigna-
tura de Ingeniería del Medio Ambiente, que se imparte en el segundo semes-
tre del primer curso de los Grados en Ingeniería Mecánica, Eléctrica, y Elec-
trónica Industrial y Automática en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería 
Industrial de la Universidad de La Rioja.
