What is the purpose of the Doctrina Social de la Iglesia?
The Doctrina Social de la Iglesia is a set of doctrinal guidelines and action criteria coined by Pope Pius XII and later referred to by Pope Paul VI as a mediation between Christian faith and social reality. The immediate purpose of the Doctrina Social de la Iglesia is to propose principles and values that contribute to creating a society worthy of man, based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. The Doctrina Social de la Iglesia is based on five basic principles: the dignity of the person, the common good, the subsidiarity of the State and all peoples, the promotion of the active participation of all, and the affective solidarity of all men.
