What are the rules for the javelin and hammer throw in athletics?
Javelin throw: The athlete has three attempts, and the eight athletes with the best valid mark, or all if there are eight or fewer, make three more attempts in reverse order of their best mark. The javelin must be held by the grip (at least the athlete's hand must touch it) and thrown over the shoulder or throwing arm; it is not allowed to throw it in rotation, nor can the athlete turn his back to the landing area before releasing the javelin; non-classical styles are not allowed. If the javelin breaks during the attempt or in the air, it will not be counted as void; neither if the break causes the athlete to lose balance and touch outside the arc; in this case, he will be allowed to start again. On landing, the metal tip must touch the ground before any other part of the javelin. Reasons for null throw:
Hammer throw: The hammer throw is a current athletics event where an object called a hammer is thrown, consisting of a metal ball attached to a handle by a steel cable, with the winner being the one who sends it the farthest distance. The throw is made from a 2.135 m diameter circle, made of concrete or a similar surface, installed inside a safety cage, protected by nets. Three throws are made, plus three more for the eight athletes with the best valid mark, or for all if there are eight or fewer. The athlete can place the head of the hammer inside or outside the circle, touching the ground to start the throw; it is not void if the hammer touches the metal edge or the ground outside the circle during the preliminary turns. The athlete can interrupt the throw and start again, all within the allowed time. If the hammer breaks during the attempt or in the air, it will not be counted as void, nor if the break causes the athlete to lose balance and touch outside the circle; in this case, he will be allowed to start again.
