What is a decimal number? A decimal number is the linear expression of an irreducible fraction obtained by dividing the numerator by the denominator. Decimal numbers are classified into two groups: limited or exact decimal numbers, and unlimited or inexact decimal numbers. Decimal exact numbers have a limited number of decimal places. Decimal inexact numbers have an unlimited number of decimal places. Decimal numbers can be converted to fractions and vice versa.
