What is the treatment for hypertensive emergencies?
The therapeutic goal is to gradually reduce blood pressure. The patient should remain in a quiet place for at least 30 minutes before taking blood pressure again. Electrocardiogram and chest X-ray should be performed. Captopril, nicardipine, labetalol, atenolol, and furosemide are some of the drugs used in the treatment.
