What is the management of premature rupture of membranes? 1. Is there any sign or symptom of intrauterine infection? 2. Is the fetus malformed? 3. Is the gestational age 34 weeks or more? 4. Is the gestational age less than 34 weeks? If there are signs or symptoms of intrauterine infection, the pregnancy should be terminated regardless of gestational age and antibiotics should be initiated. If the fetus is malformed and the malformations are incompatible with life, the pregnancy should be terminated regardless of gestational age. If the gestational age is 34 weeks or more, induction with oxytocin should be initiated if there is no contraindication. If the gestational age is less than 34 weeks and there is no contraindication, tests for lung maturity should be performed, and if positive, induction should be performed.
