What are the general procedures for patient immobilization?
Limit the patient's physical mobility and ensure their safety. Use physical and/or mechanical devices to restrict movements of a part of the body or prevent them altogether to prevent physical activities that may put the patient or other people in their environment at risk of injury. The decision to immobilize the patient must be made after assessment by the multidisciplinary team, using appropriate assessment tools and monitoring their use. The immobilizations will be carried out with help and using the least restrictive techniques possible to avoid injuring the patient. Check that the patient has some freedom of movement, but in no case can it cause injury. Monitor the patient's response to the procedure. Assess the patient at least twice.
