What are the PFNM (non-timber forest products) and their contribution to the sustainability of family farming in Latin America and the Caribbean?
The PFNM are products obtained from forests that are tangible and physical objects of biological origin, distinct from wood. The PFNM include only animal products and raw materials, such as live animals, leather, wild honey and beeswax, game meat, raw materials for medicines and dyes. The PFNM are important for the development of family farming, especially for their economic value, and are mainly used for food and ornamental purposes.
