CPR: cardiopulmonary
resuscitation is an emergency
procedure used to treat someone
who is not breathing and whose
heart has stopped.

Bandage: strip of material used to 
cover, bind, or protect a wound.

Bleeding: to have blood escaping
from blood vessels or skin

Blister: raised bubble on the skin filled
with a watery liquid. It can happen by
burning or friction.

Burns: skin damage caused by fire, 
heat, chemicals, electricity, or
radiation (e.g. a sunburn).

Chest compressions: a step in CPR 
that involves pushing firmly and 
quickly in the middle of a victim’s
chest.

Defibrillator: electrical device used to 
restore a normal heartbeat

Fracture: rupture or break in a bone
or cartilage

Pulse: steady expansión and 
contraction felt in an artery, 
produced by heart contractions.

Rescue breathing: the act of breathing
for an unconscious person, using
mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Shock: critical condition where blood
flow is insufficient

Splint: device used to keep a body
part immobile.
