V.- 32.536.243 VALLE DE LA PASCUA, ABRIL DE 2021 SINGULAR Y PLURAL (THERE IS AND THERE ARE) "There" es un adverbio de lugar que se acompaña del verbo to be en su forma singular o plural dependiendo del sustantivo parte del sujeto. Dicho verbo to be, en su forma positiva puede ser: "is" (en cuyo caso sea singular) o "are" (en el caso de que sea plural). Así mismo, ambas formas del verbo (tanto "is" como "are", singular y plural respectivamente) se acompañan del "not" en cuyo caso el contexto sea negativo. La contracción para cada forma es la siguiente: "is not: isn't" y para la versión plural: "are not: aren't". En otro orden de ideas, para la formación de preguntas en inglés la estructura es la siguiente: Verbo to be o auxiliar + "there" + complemento? THERE IS Oraciones afirmativas: There is a pencil in my case / Hay un lápiz en mi estuche There is an apple in the fridge / Hay una manzana en la nevera There is a book / Hay un libro There is a car in the garage / Hay un coche en el garage There is an elephant in the zoo / Hay un elefante en el zoológico Oraciones negativas: There isn’t my notebook / No está mi cuaderno There isn’t your bag / No está tu bolso There isn’t an elephant / No hay un elefante There isn’t a pencil in my case / No hay un lapis en mi estuche There isn’t an elephant in the zoo / No hay un elefante en el zoológico Oraciones interrogativas: Is there a ghost in the house? = ¿Hay un fantasma en la casa? Is there a TV in the living room? = ¿Hay una TV en la sala? Is there a car on the road? /¿Hay un coche en la carretera? Is there only one doctor in this area? / ¿Hay solo un médico en esta área? Is there a mailbox on the corner? / ¿Hay un buzón en la esquina? THERE ARE Oraciones Afirmativas There are two cats / Hay dos gatos There are three houses / Hay 3 casas There are three men outside / Hay 3 hombres afuera There are some flies on the window / Hay algunas moscas en la ventana There are three sofas in the kitchen / Hay tres sofás en la cocina Oraciones Negativas There aren’t any children / No hay niños There aren’t any tables / No hay mesas There aren’t any restrooms / No hay baños There aren’t any good movies on TV / No hay buenas películas en televisión There aren’t any people in the restaurant / No hay personas en el restaurante Oraciones interrogativas: Are there two large windows in my office? / ¿Hay dos ventanas grandes en mi oficina? Are there four seasons in a year? / ¿Hay cuatro estaciones en un año? Are there museums in this town? / ¿Hay museos en esta ciudad? Are there people in the stage? / ¿Hay personas en el escenario? Are there two stranger outside? / Hay dos extraños afuera de la casa? PRONOMBRES POSESIVOS Estos pronombres, tal y como lo expresa su nombre, indican posesión o pertenencia. Se clasifican dependiendo de la forma en que el sujeto indica que le pertenece el objeto y pueden estar constituidos de dos maneras: Como Adjetivo: En este caso, el pronombre hace el papel de adjetivo posesivo y siempre se escribe antes del sustantivo que está calificando en la oración. Como pronombre: En este caso, indican posesión o pertenencia correspondiendo cada uno a una persona o sujeto gramatical. A excepción de "my - mine", estos pronombres se forman a partir de los adjetivos posesivos, añadiendo una "s" al final.
