section four Specific Medical Diseases and Stroke J. P. MOHR For this, the fifth edition of Stroke, the authors in this section have updated their chapters and, in some cases, have written entirely new chapters on the aspects of a given disease that relate to stroke. The topics chosen represent the major disease processes for which stroke is a prominent part of the clinical picture. Other diseases associated with stroke also exist, but the chosen list was considered to be the most important. Detailed description of the management of these diseases is deferred to the chapters on therapy. The authors of some of the chapters in earlier editions have graciously added or even given way to new contributors. Section Four - Specific Medical Diseases and Stroke
