What is the structure of the circulatory system in vertebrates according to Ana G. Moreno's Zoology Notes?

The circulatory system is of the closed type and is limited by a continuous epithelial lining.
The blood vessels have a double wall, a mesenchymal layer of connective elements (elastic fibers) and smooth muscle fibers.
Arteries conduct and distribute blood from the heart to the capillaries, while veins carry blood from the capillaries to the heart.
Capillaries are a double endothelium with a basal membrane and lack a muscle-elastic lining.
The arterial system consists of the dorsal aorta, aortic arches, and ventral aorta.
The number of aortic arches varies according to the number of gill pouches.
The appearance of the pulmonary artery marks the beginning of double circulation.
In tetrapods, the first and second aortic arches are complete and functional in embryos but disappear during development.
The third aortic arch is complete and functional in embryos and persists in all adults except for apodous amphibians.
The fourth aortic arch is present in all embryos and persists in adults as the dorsal aorta.
The sixth aortic arch is present in all embryos and almost all adults and gives rise to the pulmonary artery.
The heart and gill arches of amphibians are not described in this text.
