What are the indications for invasive monitoring in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction?

Catéter de flotación is indicated in patients with progressive hypotension unresponsive to fluid administration, mechanical complications, hypotension without pulmonary congestion unresponsive to fluid loading, hypoperfusion without hypotension or pulmonary edema, and in patients receiving amines or vasopressors.
Intra-arterial pressure monitoring may be useful in severe hypotension, cardiogenic shock, patients receiving nitroprusside, and administration of inotropes.
Intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation is indicated in patients with arterial hypotension and low output states unresponsive to other interventions to stabilize the patient before percutaneous or surgical revascularization, in cases of recurrent ischemia, hemodynamic instability, poor left ventricular function or large area of myocardium at risk, and may be useful in refractory polymorphic ventricular tachycardia and refractory pulmonary congestion.
