Who is Paulo Freire?

Paulo Freire was a Brazilian sociologist and philosopher of education born in 1921.
He worked on literacy campaigns in Brazil until 1964 and later in Chile until 1967.
Freire's educational philosophy aimed to provide educational opportunities to the less privileged classes.
His work Pedagogy of the Oppressed, published in 1970, is the synthesis of his socio-educational thinking.
Freire's method was based on conscientization, which he called psychosocial.
Freire died at the age of 76 in 1997.
