What are the precautions and contraindications for different types of physical therapy techniques?

The use of pulsatile or continuous ultrasound is contraindicated in areas with electronic devices, in the lower back or abdomen of pregnant women, in areas with known or suspected neoplasia, in tissues with active bleeding or untreated bleeding disorders, in tissues infected with tuberculosis or underlying osteomyelitis, in recently radiated tissues, in the chest of people with heart disease, arrhythmias or heart failure, and in the cervical region or head of people known to have seizures.
TENS should not be applied in areas with impaired sensitivity or in people with cognitive or communication deficits that prevent them from accurately and timely reporting adverse or unwanted events.
NMES should not be applied in pregnant women, areas with circulation disorders, or any unstable area due to recent surgery, bone fracture, or osteoporosis.
LLLT/non-coherent light should not be applied in tissues infected with tuberculosis or other virulent bacterial forms, in the lower back or abdomen of pregnant women, in regions with known or suspected neoplasia, in tissues with active bleeding or untreated bleeding disorders, in regions with active deep vein thrombosis or thrombophlebitis, on the eyes or in areas near them, in the anterior part of the neck or carotid sinus, or in areas of damaged or vulnerable skin where uneven conduction of current could occur.
Superficial heat should not be applied to large areas or at an intensity sufficient to raise body temperature in pregnant women, regions with known or suspected neoplasia, infected tissues or people with tuberculosis, areas with impaired sensitivity, tissues with active bleeding or untreated bleeding disorders, recently radiated tissues, areas with circulation problems, areas affected by skin diseases sensitive to heat, areas with damaged or edematous skin, or reproductive organs (testicles).
