What is the concept of Roman Law and its terminology? Concept of Law Terminology The term 'Law' in Latin corresponds to the term ius, which has different meanings depending on the historical-juridical evolution of the Roman people. The Roman Law is a historical, past and non-current law, but it is surprising for several reasons, such as the perfection of the legal system and its survival beyond the people it served and from which it was born. The expression 'Roman Law' can be used to designate the pre-Justinian Law, the Justinian legislation, and the post-Justinian adaptation and development of Roman Law. The study of Roman Law is aimed at understanding the legal experience of the Roman people, which can be contemplated from many aspects that are not purely normative.
