Nota media acceso: 11’72 Admission cut-off mark: 11’72 Avda. de Castilla, 27. (Urb. Yo nunca me he rota nada, pero casi. Me caigo muchas veces. ¿Y no te da miedo? También he ido a Talavera. UNA HISTORIA QUE CONTAR A STORY TO TELL Eric Reales Alonso, student in Casvi of 3rd E. Primary, is in love with bicycles. This feeling has led him to practice BMX since he was a child. Since he was 4 years old, he has participated in races and jumps. He knows how to make “wheelies”... And also falls sometimes too. But that is no obstacle for him when it comes to continuing training and trying to fulfill his biggest dream: to be world champion. What does BMX consist of? It’s like riding a bike, but with jumps, wheelies... There are obstacles that you must overcome before you reach the finish line. A total of eight riders take part in each race. What are the BMX races like? They are super fast, they go by in no time at all. There are a lot of free falls and people have a lot of fun. Is it a dangerous sport? Yes, a little bit. My best friend recently broke his radius. I’ve never broken anything, but almost. I fall a lot. Like yesterday when I fell doing a wheelie. And you’re not afraid of that? Not at all. When I fly, I know I’m not going to fall. I trust myself because I already know how to do it very well. But you wear a lot of protection, don’t you? Of course, I do. A helmet with a peak and visor; a sweatshirt with “mini-helmets” in the shape of my body; and knee pads. Did your parents like the idea of practicing this sport in which you can fall so much? Yes, my parents told me they were happy that I finally found a sport I loved! I didn’t like soccer. Besides, they’re not afraid when I run, because they know what it’s like and they encourage me a lot. And what are the bikes you use like? They are not normal bikes because they don’t have gears. They are a bit smaller and there are different types: expert, mini, junior, pro and many more. How long have you been practicing this sport? For the past four years. Now I’m 8. The truth is that I started because I really liked riding a bike, so when I found out that there was a BMX circuit I signed up. I’m training in the one in Móstoles. Although there are more circuits. In Talavera de la Reina, El Álamo, El Casar... It’s my favorite sport. I love bikes and I already have three at home. What do you like the most? Jumping. I’m very good at it. You’ve already started going to championships, and so far, you’ve been doing great... In the Madrid Championship, in my circuit, I was fifth. I’ve also been to Talavera. And I think I’m going to go to the Spanish Championship, in Almuñecar. It would be my dream, because the circuit is new and I’m sure I’m going to have a great time. Would you encourage your classmates to practice BMX? Of course, I would. It’s super fun and they teach you how to do new tricks all the time. When I was four years old, I couldn’t even ride up a hill. So, it has helped me to be better on the bike and to better myself.
