PRESENTACIÓN
En el marco de la realización en nuestro país del Foro de Cooperación Económica Asia-Pacífico APEC 
Perú 2016, cuyo tema general es “Crecimiento de calidad y Desarrollo humano”, se pone a disposición de 
los Jefes de Estado, delegaciones y público en general el documento “PERÚ: Síntesis Estadística 2016”, 
que contiene información estadística oficial, con el propósito de contribuir a un mejor conocimiento de la 
realidad económico y social.
Este documento está orientado a brindar en forma sintética un panorama sobre la evolución de las 
principales variables, se incluye información sobre Población y Demografía, Pobreza y Programas 
Sociales, Educación, Salud, Vivienda y Hogar, Empleo, Ingresos, Seguridad Ciudadana, Producto Bruto 
Interno, Producción Sectorial, Precios, Sector Externo, Sector Financiero y Panorama Internacional. La 
información es mostrada mediante cuadros y gráficos, cuyos títulos se presentan en una versión bilingüe 
español e inglés.
Las estadísticas e indicadores que contiene este documento provienen de los últimos censos y encuestas 
especializadas, ejecutadas por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática tales como: IV Censo 
Nacional Agropecuario, Encuesta Nacional de Hogares, Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud Familiar, entre 
otras. Así también una parte importante de la información estadística presentada, es brindada por los 
sectores integrantes del Sistema Estadístico Nacional.

FOREWORD
In the framework of the implementation in our country of the Forum Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation 
APEC Peru 2016, whose general theme is “Growth of quality and Human development” becomes 
available to the Heads of State, delegations and general public the document called “PERU: Statistical 
Summary 2016” that contains official statistical information for the purpose of contributing to a better 
understanding of the economic and social reality.
This document aims to provide an overview on the evolution of the main variables, information on 
Population and Demography, Poverty and Social Programs, Education, Health, Housing and Home, 
Employment, Income, Citizen Segurity, Gross Domestic Product, Sectoral Production, Prices, External 
Sector, Financial Sector and International Overview. The information is displayed using charts and 
graphs, whose titles are presented in a bilingual Spanish and English version.
The statistics and indicators contained in this document come from the latest censuses and specialized 
surveys, carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics such as: IV National Agricultural 
Census, National Household Survey, Demographic and Family Health Survey, among others. Also part 
an important statistical information presented is provided by the members of the National Statistical 
System sectors.

Tasa Bruta de Mortalidad: Es el cociente entre el número medio anual de defunciones ocurridas durante un periodo determinado y la población media de ese periodo.
Esperanza de Vida al Nacer: Es una estimación del número promedio de años que le restaría vivir a un recién nacido si las condiciones de mortalidad actuales permanecen
invariables.
Tasa de Mortalidad Infantil: Es la probabilidad que tiene un recién nacido de morir antes de cumplir un año de vida.
