What is astrosismology?

Astrosismology is an astronomical technique that studies the periodic oscillations of the surfaces of stars.
The vibrations of the stars can be studied either by photometry or by spectroscopy.
The study of stellar vibrations is called astrosismology and presents many parallels with studies carried out on Earth and the Moon on the propagation of seismic waves.
Astrosismology applied to the Sun is called heliosismology.
