What is the objective of this chapter?
To learn the elements of history, physical examination, and laboratory tests that allow defining the conduct to follow in a child who consults for fever without focus. To differentiate patients whose fever is most likely secondary to a banal and self-limited infection from those who may have a potentially serious bacterial infection that requires timely and adequate antimicrobial treatment. To provide information about the different types of vaccines available for children and their indications, contraindications, and efficacy.
