DEDICATION
Prof. Lindsay Symon was one of my first clinical chiefs in neurosur-
gery and my first research director. Lindsay has been a towering
figure in both British and international neurosurgical circles, becoming
the President of the International Association of Neurosurgical
Societies. I remember him for his kindness and humor. In my time at
Queen Square I heard him lecture and he probably has no equal as an
academic lecturer. On moving to Norway, it was natural for
Scandinavian colleagues to approach him for an assessment and it is
with deep gratitude that I can note that he was invariably loyal
and supportive. Thus, it is with great pleasure that I dedicate this book
to him.
