� El� presente� volumen� forma� parte� del� Curso� de� Mediación� Familiar� que� venimos� impartiendo�durante�diez�ediciones�consecutivas,�cada�una�de�las�cuales�recoge�lo�más�novedoso� aparecido�hasta�el�momento�de�ver�la�luz.�Con�ello�intentamos�poner�al�día�la�literatura�sobre�esta� temática�tan�interesante�y�de�actualidad,�con�el�fin�de�darla�a�conocer�a�los�alumnos�que�se�inician� ahora� y� agradecer� a� los� que� nos� han� honrado� anteriormente� con� el� seguimiento� de� nuestros� cursos.�De�estos�últimos�hemos�aprovechado�sus�sugerencias,�que�reconocemos�sinceramente.� � � El�Curso�consta�de�seis�módulos�distribuidos�en�tres�volúmenes,�con�un�total�de�39�temas,� de�los�cuales�los�12�primeros�–recogidos�en�este�primer�libro–�tienen�carácter�introductorio, �y�los� dos� restantes� se� refieren,� respectivamente,� a� aspectos� legislativos� sobre� la� familia� y� a� la� introducción�a�la�Mediación�Familiar�propiamente�dicha.�Con�ello�consideramos�que�el�bagaje�del� futuro� mediador� se� verá� suficientemente� orientado� para� acometer� la� difícil,� pero� siempre� enriquecedora�tarea�de�mediar�entre�los�miembros�de�la�familia.� � � En� primer� lugar,� se� pretende� asentar� las� bases� teóricas� para� el� trabajo� de�Mediación� familiar.�Así,�el�primer�módulo�tratará�de�la�estructura�familiar�en�tiempos�y�espacios�diferentes�a� los� de� nuestra� sociedad� con� el� objeto� de� ofrecer� la� singularidad� de� determinadas� culturas,� su� constitución,�su�formación�y�desarrollo,�sistemas�de�filiación,�etc.�Ello�permitirá�al�lector�ampliar�su� horizonte�y�evitar�la�mirada�etnocentrista�de�quien�es�ajeno�a�estas�culturas.� � � Se�exponen,�seguidamente,�diversas�teorías�sobre� la�relación�y� la�comunicación,�así�como� sobre�el�apego,�la�resiliencia�y�la�complejidad�en�la�familia.�Se�pretende,�por�tanto,�dotar�al�alumno� o�al�lector��de�conocimientos�básicos�y�generales�acerca�de�cómo�se�produce�la�comunicación�en�la� familia,� cuáles� son� los� obstáculos� que� se� interponen� en� las� relaciones� familiares,� así� como� el� desarrollo�de�conceptos�tan�actuales�–y�tan�antiguos,�a�la�vezͲ�de�atracciones�y�resistencias�en�este� ámbito,�que�muestran�la�complejidad�de�esta�institución.�El�apego�representa�el�vínculo�emotivoͲ afectivo� y� duradero� que� se� establece� entre� el� niño� y� el� adulto� de� referencia,� generalmente� la� madre.�Por�su�parte,�la�resiliencia�–a�la�que�últimamente�se�le�otorga�reconocida�importanciaͲ�nos� habla�de�la�capacidad�de�resistencia�del�individuo�frente�a�las�dificultades.�Ambos�términos�tienen� aplicación�en�los�procesos�mediadores.�� � � La� concepción� de� la� familia� como� sistema� dinámico� viviente� es,� asimismo,� un� descubrimiento� importante� de� la� sociología� moderna,� que� ha� coadyuvado� � a� su� mejor� conocimiento� bajo� perspectivas� diferentes� a� las� tradicionales,� lo� cual� ha� contribuido� sustancialmente� a� ser� contemplada� como� una� red� de� comunicaciones� � en� la� que� todos� los� miembros�influyen�en�la�naturaleza�del�sistema�y,�a�la�vez,�son�afectados�por�él.�Este�nuevo�análisis�permite�plantear�nuevas�situaciones�y�aportar�soluciones�a� los�problemas�familiares�bajo�ópticas� distintas.� � � No�menos� interesante�es�el�estudio�y�análisis�de� las� interacciones�que�se�producen�en�el� seno�de� la� familia,�considerada�como�un�grupo�primario�que�desarrolla�unas�pautas�de� relación� entre� todos� sus�miembros� y� que� propician� el� sentido� de� pertenencia� entre� sus�miembros.� � La� interacción�que�se�produce�afecta�a� la�propia�estructura�de� la�familia� �y�de�cuyo�conocimiento�y� causas�pueden� inferirse�resoluciones�favorables�a� las�partes,�al�contacto�ambiental,�al�desarrollo,� etc.� � � El� lenguaje� institucional� constituye� también� un� instrumento� que� hay� que� conocer� para� poder�utilizar�correctamente� los�distintos�modos�de�acometer� los�conflictos.�Todo�acto�humano,� dice� un� autor,� tiene� lugar� en� el� lenguaje� con� el� cual� explicamos� el�mundo� y� atendemos� a� sus� diversas� significaciones.� Por� ello,� las� organizaciones� están� dotadas� de� un� específico� lenguaje,� constituyen�dominios� lingüísticos�que� facilitan�y�expresan�con�propiedad� las� interacciones�en�el� ámbito�social�y,�por�consiguiente,�familiar.�De�ahí�la�importancia�en�conocerlo.�� � � Este�núcleo,�el�de� la� familia,�por�otra�parte,�no�está�exento�de�conflictos,�entendidos�no� como�algo�insuperable,�sino�como�punto�de�partida�para�su�resolución.�El�conflicto�es�inherente�a� cualquier�proceso�humano�y,�por� lo� tanto,� incide�en�cualquier�grupo,� llámese�escuela,�empresa,� sociedad�o�familia;�supone�una�contraposición�de�intereses�entre�las�partes,�que�precisan�de�una� adecuada�resolución.�Cuenta�con�componentes�emotivos�y�cognitivos,�necesidades�e�intereses,�en� el�que�entran�también�en� juego� los�valores.�Para�el�mediador�el�conocimiento�del�conflicto�y� las� estrategias�de�resolución�en�el�marco�familiar�son�absolutamente�necesarias,�así�como� las�claves� para�su�mejor�comprensión.� � � Finalmente,�en�este�primer�volumen� intentamos�abordar,�en�el�módulo� II,�unas�nociones� básicas�acerca�de�la�familia�en�general.�Para�ello�tratamos�en�los�dos�primeros�temas�del�ciclo�vital� de� la� familia,� cuyo� estudio� facilita� el� mejor� entendimiento� de� la� estructura� interna� de� esta� institución.� El� conocimiento� de� los� ciclos� vitales� se� convierte� en� un� instrumento,� en� una� herramienta� de� innegable� utilidad� para� el� mediador.� En� cada� ciclo� se� producen� cambios� de� carácter� estructural,� funcional� o� de� desarrollo� que� exigen� un� conocimiento� y� análisis� para� su� tratamiento.� � � Asimismo,��la�pareja�representa�un�capítulo�importante�en�la�familia:�es�“un�encuentro�que� dura”,�un�encuentro�casual�que�forma�luego�un�vínculo�sexual�y�afectivo,�que�se�podrá�ampliar�con� la�llegada�de�los�hijos�y�que,�en�un�momento�dado,�puede�entrar�en�crisis.�El�trabajo�de�mediación� tiene,� pues,� asignado� un� importante� papel� en� la� crisis� de� la� pareja� y� en� todo� aquello� que� ha� construido� (hijos,� familia),� por� lo� que� resulta� esencial� conocer� todo� lo� concerniente� a� esta� cuestión.� � � Este�primer�módulo� acaba� con�una�exposición� sobre� la� familia�en�el� contexto�español� y� europeo.�Es�una�concreción�y�acotamiento�de� lo�que�se�dijo�en�el�primer�tema�de�ese�volumen,� pero�referido�al�entorno�más�inmediato,�el�español,�y�al�marco�de�una�Europa�ya�sin�fronteras.�Se� pretende,�pues,� conocer� la� realidad�de� la� institución� familiar�en�el�marco�europeo,� analizar� las� convergencias�y�divergencias�que�se�operan�en�los�distintos�países�y,�especialmente,�en�España�en� cuanto� a� las� características� sociodemográficas,� tasas� de� nupcialidad,� natalidad,� fecundación,� separaciones� o� divorcios,� etc.� El� conocimiento�de� esta� realidad� facilita� la� presencia� de� valiosos� indicadores� sobre� la� consolidación�de�determinados�modelos,� tales� como� el� crecimiento�de� las� familias� monoparentales� � en� los� contextos� urbanos,� las� nuevas� relaciones� de� pareja,� el� estancamiento�de� las�tasas�de�fecundidad,� los�fenómenos�de�adopción,�etc.�Todo�ello�constituye� un�conjunto�de�datos� imprescindibles�para�actuar�en� los�procesos�de�mediación�en�el�ámbito�no� solo�español,�sino�también�europeo.����� � � � �
