What is the pathology of benign breast tumors?
The benign breast tumors are formed by glandular tissue, ducts, fibrous and adipose tissue that keep lobes together. Adenosis is characterized by the proliferation of epithelial cells lining the small ducts and ductules, which produce masses of small glandular patterns within a fibrous stroma. Hyperplasia Epithelial is an increase in epithelial cells that line the mammary ducts or alveoli. Predominant cystic tumors are liquid-filled tumors lined by epithelium. Fibrocystic changes stimulate the growth of stromal tissue and vascularization.
