How is the diagnosis of dirofilariasis in cats performed? Serology Chest radiographs Echocardiography The most useful diagnostic tests for filariasis are serology, chest radiographs, and echocardiography. The diagnosis of feline filariasis is more difficult in cats than in dogs and can be easily overlooked. The presence of a systolic murmur can be detected during auscultation. The use of both antigen and antibody detection tests increases the likelihood of making a good diagnosis. Microfilaremia is rarely seen in circulating blood.
