Objetivos: en esta unidad aprenderás a describir una casa, sus partes y también aprenderás el 
vocabulario de muebles y decoración. Usaremos ideas en forma singular (uno) e ideas en plural 
(varios) 
There is / There are: “hay” (uno o varios) 
1-Singular: usamos la expresión “there is” cuando queremos decir que “hay” y nos referimos a una 
sola cosa. En general se usa con el artículo “a” o “an”, que significa “un o una” 
 There is a TV in my bedroom. (Hay un televisor en my dormitorio.) 
 There is an armchair in the living room. (Hay un sillón en el living.) 
Podemos abreviar el verbo “is” y decir There´s 
 There isn´t a picture on the Wall. (No hay un espejo en la pared.) 
 La forma interrogativa es: 
 Is there a refrigerator in the kitchen? 
 Yes, there is. 
 No, there isn´t. 
2- Plural: usamos la expresión “there are” cuando queremos decir que “hay” y nos referimos a 
varias cosas. En general se usa con “some” en oraciones positivas (reemplaza a un número) o con 
“any” en oraciones negativas e interrogativas: 
There are 10 chairs in the classroom (hay 10 sillas en la sala) 
There are some chairs in the classroom (hay algunas sillas en la sala) 
There aren´t any plants in the yard. (No hay ningunas plantas en el jardín) 
La forma interrogativa es: 
 Are there any glasses in the cupboard? 
 Yes, there are.
