METODOLÓGICOS • El AC no clasifica la maloclusión clase III, mordida abierta, mordida cruzada. CONCLUSIONES Autopercepción de la necesidad de tratamiento de ortodoncia en los adolescentes no depende de la gravedad de la maloclusión diagnosticada por el experto. Valoración inferior de acuerdo a su necesidad real. Respecto a género y edad, los resultados no permiten concluir que sean factores que modifiquen la percepción. PERSPECTIVAS Resultados obtenidos justifican la continuidad de esta línea de investigación con muestras poblacionales representativas para confirmar nuestros hallazgos. Necesario incluir otros factores socioculturales y psicológicos, para identificar de manera integral y multidisciplinaria la autopercepción de la necesidad de tratamiento y poder implementar programas de promoción de la salud odontológica fundamentados. Difundir los resultados obtenidos para que se realicen más estudios con metodología de la investigación rigurosa.
