What are the different local anesthetics used in anesthesia and their doses?
Local anesthetics provide a quality jump to the anesthetic act of the critical patient with regional blocks. The multimodal analgesia includes systemic and locoregional drugs, and through their use, the nociceptive stimulus during the transoperative period and in the immediate postoperative period can be blocked. The use of regional blocks is associated with a decrease in the perioperative mortality rate, as well as the appearance of other complications such as hypothermia, hypoxia, and deterioration of the hemodynamic profile. The most commonly used anesthetics for different regional blocks are lidocaine and bupivacaine, and the recommended doses are 4-6 mg/kg for dogs and 2-4 mg/kg for cats for lidocaine and 2 mg/kg for dogs and 1 mg/kg for cats for bupivacaine.
